Dr. Kathleen Whitbread, of the University of St. Joseph, has dedicated 25+ years of her career as an educator to Special Education.  

She had an idea to start a blog that focused on her research and teaching practices that promote literacy for children with Down's Syndrome.  She created "literacy day screenings," where children would sit down with her one on one for an assessment of their reading skills. The atmosphere would be friendly and light. While they waited for their assessment, the children had the opportunity to learn from and play games with a graduate student from the University.
